Validate Performance. Meet Compliance. Protect Your Assets.
Why 24/7 Monitoring Isn’t Enough
A permanent monitoring probe tells you the temperature at a single point. But it doesn’t tell you if the back corner of your freezer is 5°C colder, or if the top shelf of your fridge is 3°C warmer.
Thermal Mapping is a rigorous, multi-point validation study that documents the temperature uniformity and stability of your unit across its entire internal volume. Whether it’s a +4°C vaccine fridge or a -20°C reagent freezer, our mapping services provide the empirical proof that your storage is safe and compliant.
Compliance Standards We Support
Our mapping protocols are designed to satisfy the strictest regulatory requirements:
- CDC & VFC: Meeting the mandate for “Initial and Annual Validation” of vaccine storage.
- FDA 21 CFR Part 11: Providing secure, tamper-proof electronic records.
- USP <1079>: Documenting the storage and distribution of drug products.
- GxP/GDP: Ensuring Good Distribution and Manufacturing Practices are upheld.
Our 3-Phase Mapping Approach
1. Uniformity Study (The 3D Grid)
We deploy a grid of 9 to 15 NIST-traceable sensors (depending on unit size) to identify “Hot Spots” and “Cold Spots.” This proves that every shelf in your unit is safe for product storage.
2. Stability & Recovery Testing
How does your unit handle a 60-second door opening during a busy shift? How long does it take to recover? We stress-test your equipment to define its operational limits.
3. Power Failure “Hold-Over” Test
We document exactly how long your fridge stays within range after a power loss. This data allows you to create an evidence-based Emergency Action Plan (EAP).
Technical Excellence for Every Unit

| Equipment Type | Target Range | Mapping Focus |
| Medical Refrigerators | +2°C to +8°C | Frost prevention & door-seal integrity. |
| Laboratory Freezers | -15°C to -35°C | Defrost cycle stability & compressor health. |
| Reach-In Units | Various | Airflow obstructions and shelf-loading impact. |
| Walk-In Cold Rooms | +2°C to +8°C | HVAC/Evaporator fan performance & dead zones. |
The Remote or On-Site Choice
We offer two flexible ways to complete your mapping study:
1) Full-Service On-Site
Our technicians handle everything from sensor placement to final report generation.
2) Self-Service Remote Kits
We ship you a pre-configured kit with NIST-traceable sensors and a visual placement guide. You run the study; we write the report.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need to map my freezer every year?
Components like door gaskets, fan motors, and compressors degrade over time. Annual mapping identifies these mechanical drifts before they result in a catastrophic product loss.
Where should I place my permanent monitoring probe?
Our mapping report will identify the “Worst-Case” location (usually the warmest spot). Placing your permanent probe there ensures that if that spot is safe, the entire unit is safe.
Do you provide a certificate of calibration?
Yes. Every sensor used in our mapping studies comes with a current NIST-traceable certificate of calibration, which is included in your final validation package.
